Just read "Forever Brave is Forgiven" by Chris Cleve.It is a war story set in London and has a large section on Malta during WW2.

I think it was Mr.Mintoff who stopped the production of Malta weave but lace making continues as a cottage industry.

I've still got two skirts, and two lots of table mats. Love 'em! But daughters wouldn't be seen dead in the skirts - shame!!

Mum and sister both had skirts made from Malta weave, can't say I've seen it featured recently in Malta nor, for that matter, lace making
