6 September 2006: Demolition of the Guzeppi Despott Verdala Junior Lyceum, in Cottonera, started , making way for a new school, work on which should be completed in about two years' time. Besides the new building, four colonial blocks that form part of the school are being restored. Education, Youth and Employment Minister Louis Galea, who visited the works, said this was a happy day for him and for the teachers and students of the school. It is a dream becoming reality. I am sure that seeing the demolition and changes envisaged will be a sad moment to many. However, upgrading as you can imagine, has been long overdue. Alastair [Webmaster]
